Artist Biography
Inspired by photos of nature scenes taken along his travels and hiking around Hong Kong, KHOO paints with acrylics and brings subjects to life using rich colours, textures and 3D shading techniques.
Born in May 1951 in Port Dickson, a seaside town on Malaysia’s west coast, KHOO has called Hong Kong home for over 30 years. Trained as a certified public accountant, KHOO retired from active corporate life in 2015 to focus on leisure pursuits both old and new. What started in early 2019 as a fun creative outlet slowly blossomed into a serious interest in canvas painting, under the instruction of renowned Scottish landscape painter and good friend, Jason Porteous. As a result of many leisurely hours spent in the studio, in between sips of red wine and with jazz play-ing in the background, KHOO produced a total of 15 artworks by mid-2022.

My inspiration comes from nature, my favorite music, religion, dreams and visions, and I strive to create paintings that evoke a sense of emotion and connection with my audience.
